Cardiac Conduction System and ECG Basics

Conduction system components:
– SA node (sinoatrial node) – natural pacemaker
– AV node (atrioventricular node) – delays impulse
– Bundle of His – transmits signals to ventricles
– Purkinje fibers – coordinate ventricular contraction
Normal conduction pathway: SA node → AV node → Bundle of His → Purkinje fibers

Electrical activity produces ECG waves:
– P wave – atrial depolarization
– QRS complex – ventricular depolarization
– T wave – ventricular repolarization
Abnormal conduction → arrhythmias
