Angina Management in Homecare

Immediate assessment:
– Check vital signs (BP, HR, SpO₂)
– Assess chest pain (onset, duration, severity, radiation)
Interventions:
– Stop activity, place patient in resting position
– Administer nitroglycerin as prescribed
– Provide oxygen if SpO₂ < 94%
– Keep the patient calm and reassured

Monitoring:
– Reassess chest pain after intervention
– Watch for progression to unstable angina or myocardial infarction
Communication:
– Notify the physician if pain persists
– Activate EMS if unrelieved after 3 doses of nitroglycerin or symptoms worsen
