Common Signs and Nursing Action

Clinical signs:
– Palpitations (fluttering or pounding in chest)
– Dizziness or lightheadedness
– Shortness of breath
Chest discomfort
Sudden fainting or collapse

Nursing actions:
– Check vital signs and pulse rhythm
– Apply oxygen if SpO₂ < 94%
– Keep patient at rest, in safe position
– Monitor for worsening symptoms (chest pain, hypotension, loss of consciousness)
– Prepare to initiate CPR if patient becomes unresponsive
– Notify physician or activate EMS for unstable arrhythmias
