Emergency Nursing Action in Heart Failure

Positioning:
– Sit patient upright (high Fowler’s)
– Legs dangling if possible (reduces venous return)
Oxygen therapy:
– Administer oxygen if SpO₂ < 94%
– Monitor saturation continuously

Medications (as ordered):
– Diuretics (e.g., furosemide)
– Vasodilators or other prescribed drugs
Monitoring:
– Check vital signs frequently
– Assess for worsening breathlessness, frothy sputum, or confusion
– Monitor fluid intake/output if feasible
