How to care your skin around G-Tubes?

Hand Hygiene
– Wash hands with soap and warm water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

Clean the Skin
– Use soap, warm water, and a washcloth/cotton swab.
– Gently clean under the rubber bumper.
– Wipe the tube from the skin outward.

Rinse & Dry
– Rinse with clean water.
– Let the area dry completely (air dry or with a clean towel).
– Shower rinsing is also acceptable.

Secure the Tube
– Use a tube holder or medical tape to secure the tube to the abdomen.
– Prevents tube movement and irritation.

Repeat Hand Hygiene
– Wash and dry hands again when finished.
Dressings
– If instructed, change the dressing daily or whenever it becomes wet or soiled.
Fasteners/Stitches
– Some children may have fasteners or stitches around the tube site.
– These usually fall off on their own.
– Ask your doctor when and how they will be removed.
