Medication for Cardiac Emergencies

Oxygen therapy
– For SpO₂ < 94% or respiratory distress
Nitroglycerin
– Relieves angina by dilating coronary arteries
– Use only if prescribed and blood pressure is stable
Aspirin
– Reduces clot formation in suspected myocardial infarction
– Typically chewed for faster absorption

Diuretics (e.g., Furosemide)
– Reduces fluid overload in heart failure or pulmonary edema
Antihypertensives
– Used in hypertensive emergency if prescribed
– Requires close BP monitoring
Other prescribed drugs (per patient’s care plan):
– Beta-blockers, ACE inhibitors, antiarrhythmics
