PEG Tube

A PEG tube is a clear feeding tube placed directly into Patient’s stomach during a minor surgery.
The surgeon uses an endoscope (a thin, flexible tube with a small camera and light) inserted through the mouth to carefully guide the placement.

The PEG tube has two ports at the end:
– A feeding port for formula or nutrition.
– A medication port for giving medicines separately.
The Y-adaptor at the end of the tube may wear out over time, but it can be easily replaced without changing the whole tube.

The PEG tube usually stays in place for at least 4 to 6 months after surgery.
If your patient needs the tube replaced later, they will not need another surgery.
However, the replacement procedure will require sedation to keep your child comfortable.
