The Cardiac Cycle

Two main phases:
Systole – contraction, blood pumped out
Diastole – relaxation, chambers fill with blood
Left ventricle = the strongest chamber, pumps blood to the body
Coordinated contraction ensures efficient circulation
Cycle repeats about 60–100 times per minute in a healthy adult
Disruption → reduced cardiac output → emergencies
