Stroke is a medical condition that occurs when the blood supply to the brain is reduced or interrupted and preventing brain tissue from getting oxygen and nutrients. The brain cells begin to die which affects the normal function of the body.
Causes of stroke: To understand the causes of stroke, it is better to understand its type. Stroke is of two types:
- Ischemic stroke occurs when the brain’s blood vessels become narrowed or blocked, causing severely reduced blood flow.
- Hemorrhagic stroke occurs when a blood vessel in your brain leaks or ruptures. Brain hemorrhages can result from many conditions that affect your blood vessels.
Thus, stroke occurs when blood vessels of the brain become blocked or leaked. Lifestyle (Being overweight or obese, physical inactivity, heavy or binge drinking, etc.), Medical conditions (diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc) are the most important and common risk factors associated with stroke.
