Hypertension

Definition: Severe, acute rise in blood pressure with risk of organ damage
Key symptoms:
– Severe headache (often sudden)
– Blurred or double vision
– Chest pain or tightness
– Shortness of breath
– Confusion, restlessness, or altered mental status

– Nausea and vomiting
– Seizures or sudden neurological deficits (stroke-like signs)
Blood pressure values:
– Often ≥180/120 mmHg
– Accompanied by signs of organ involvement
