Low-Profile Tubes

Low-Profile Tubes
One of the most common types of gastrostomy tubes (G-tubes) is the low-profile tube, sometimes called a “button.” This type of tube lies flat on the skin of the abdomen and is held in place inside the stomach by a small balloon filled with water. When it’s time to give feedings or medicines, a special extension tube is connected to the button.
During your hospital stay, you will be taught how to use, clean, and care for the G-tube.
